BSL to English Interpreter(s)
Access SUMMIT in Manchester is looking to
recruit an in-house BSL to English Interpreter to work alongside
other in-house Interpreters that we currently employ; it is
hoped that the post will begin in October 2008.
An individually negotiated package will be
available to include:
The post will be for one year fixed term in
the first instance.
The main purpose of the post(s) will be to
undertake a range of sign language interpreter tasks and
assignments including interpreting for Deaf students, members of
staff or visitors at the three universities (Manchester
Metropolitan University, The University of Manchester and The
University of Salford), at The Centre or, as requested by Access
SUMMIT, for other designated organisations.
Interpreting may be required in a full range
of university settings and teaching and learning situations
including lectures, tutorials, assessments and examinations, and
at other events such as induction and registration, public
occasions and meetings.
The post will also involve a range of other
duties including contributing to developing the interpreter
service at Access SUMMIT, contributing to staff development,
training and other events.
The post-holder may also be expected to
provide Language Support Tuition, Language Modification services
and other BSL related work (including video work and
transcription).
