Typical difficulties at University might include:-

• Attending to a lecture and notetaking at the same time
• Making legible notes
• Researching/reading
• Time management / Organising

Appropriate Reasonable Adjustments might include:-

• Notes in advance of lectures
• Modifications to examination arrangements
• Permission to record lectures/seminars

Support/resources available via Access SUMMIT might include:-

• Assessment of Needs undertaken by assessor experienced in dyslexia
• Support package including:-
  • Digital recorder to assist with notetaking;
  • Personal Computer with mind-mapping software to assist with planning and organisation and read back software to assist with proof-reading;
  • Scanner to assist with reading/researching;
  • Study Skills Tutoring to cover topics such as effective notetaking, researching, essay planning, organisational skills and time management;
  • Training to make sure you make best use of the equipment you have;
  • Ongoing Assistive Technology Support to make sure your equipment continues to give you the support you need throughout your course.
