Support Service - realise your potential by getting the personal support you need...

We can supply a range of support workers to students in The Greater Manchester and The North West area. Support Workers can assist with a range of study related functions including:

Study Skills Tuition / Mentoring - if you have difficulties with study skills / organisation and motivation - a Support Tutor can help with a wide range of study related difficulties arising from a specific learning difficulty e.g. dyslexia, mental health difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. Please note that this support cannot be subject specific.

Notetaking – if you have difficulties with making adequate notes – a notetaker can attend your taught, timetabled sessions with you and and make summary notes for you. These can then be made available in either a handwritten or electronic form.

Reading – if you have difficulties with reading – a reader can read to you from books/journals on your reading lists or from books/journals you have to use to complete coursework and revision.

Library assistance – if you have difficulty with using library facilities – a library assistant can help you locate and obtain books.

Transcription – if you have an audio recording of a taught session or you need to access text in an alternative format e.g. large print – a transcriber can convert source material into a format you can use.

Personal assistance – if you have difficulties with a range of study related activities – a personal assistant can help you with notetaking, reading, mobility around the campus, accessing the library and so on.
